Japan Franchise Association (JFA) is a public interest corporation established in 1972 with the permission of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), for the purpose of providing healthy development of the Franchising System. The members of JFA consist of leading franchisors in Japan which run franchise businesses and companies which are interested in franchising and agree over the purpose of JFA.
The Franchising Industry has shown steady growth. This is the result of the fact that the reason and innovation of the Franchising System have been recognized by the society, that franchisors have adapted themselves to the social and economic changes, developing effective marketing strategies and excellent management systems. Meanwhile, JFA has been engaged in various franchising-related activities including education and training, research and study, and the formulation of the code of ethics. JFA has always been playing the role as the center of the franchising business sector.
